Praying for Progeny was formed in January 2017 to gather parents to pray for their children. It was clear that our enemy was battling for our children. Some children of committed believers were walking away from God and "prodigal" was often the word used for them. But we also saw the onslaught of our enemy upon our children who were trying to walk with the Lord. The word "progeny" was used because it covered our "prodigal" children as well as our children who were professing Christ and trying to live out their faith in Christ. The word "progeny" also includes our grandchildren and our spiritual children. Both young children and adult offspring are included in the term "progeny". As our logo indicates, "progeny" means descendants, offspring, those who come after. We are praying for coming generations.
We exist to encourage parents, grandparents, spiritual parents to pray for their progeny and to prepare themselves to pass on the baton of faith to the coming generations.
As we began praying, we found that guilt and shame as well as anxiety and fear were emotions parents sometimes had regarding our children.
Our hope is to help parents find freedom, forgiveness, and fortitude in Christ as well as to battle in prayer for our children.
It is also our desire to serve churches and pastors as we battle for the next generation. We want to encourage Pastors to pray with other Pastors in their community on behalf of our progeny and the next generation.
Our Enemy has targeted people (us and our children) to hinder God's plan and agenda. It doesn't matter if our children (progeny) are:
OR
They are Precious to us and even more Precious to God and worth fighting for!
A look at our culture and society creates examples of our enemy's attacks that are too many to enumerate.
The Battle is Real, but We are Victorious fighting with Spiritual Weapons
2 Corinthians 10:3-6 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 6 and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
Prayer--talking to God about our concerns is an effective spiritual weapon believers possess. Let's use it!
Change can only come from the Holy Spirit.
No program, idea, initiative, or curriculum can help apart from God's Spirit using it to change people.
John 15:5 ...apart from me you can do nothing.
We need to go to Him who can change people.
Glorifying God and his Kingdom is our primary focus. Our children and our progeny are God’s and here for His purposes.
Matthew 6:33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
God loves us and sent His son to die for us. He reached out to us with his love. He wants us to pass on His word and His love to our children. This is not only for their sake, but for the building of the kingdom of God. Like a runner in a relay race, it is imperative that the baton or our mantle of faith be passed on to the next runner.

I Corinthians 10:31 Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Psalm 78:5-7 …That they should [c]teach them to their children, That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
I John 5:14-15 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.
I Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Psalm 21:1 The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes.
Psalm 21:6 For You make him most blessed forever; You make him joyful with gladness in Your presence.
Luke 7:11-17 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't cry.'" Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up! The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. They were all filled with awe and praised God. A great prophet has appeared among us," they said. God has come to help his people. This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
